Carinthian street
Description:
Carinthian street in Vienna is one of the most famous. There are many shops and craft shops. The first mention of it dates back to 1257. At that time it was the busiest shopping place in the Austrian capital. Now it's a pedestrian zone that curves like a horseshoe. In some guides to Vienna, it is called the golden horseshoe, because this place promises good profits for merchants who conduct their business on this street. And buyers here can make interesting and profitable purchases.
At the end of the XIX century, several houses in the western part of Carinthian Street were demolished and rebuilt. This made the street wider. Now its width was 17 meters instead of the previous nine. In 1945, many of the local buildings were destroyed, so modern buildings now coexist with the old ones. In the 70s of the last century, a pedestrian zone was created here, a metro line was held.
On Carinthian street there are many shops, restaurants, cafes, several hotels.
