Schloss Orth, Orth an der Donau, 2304, Austria

Description:

In Lower Austria there is a magnificent Danube Auen National Park. It lies a narrow strip between the Danube floodplain and Vienna. Its length is 38 kilometers, and its width is no more than four kilometers. The park was founded on October 27, 1996, it occupied a large plot of wooded and wetland with a total area of 93 square kilometers. A small part of it is occupied by flood meadows, rivers and lakes. This is one of the last places in Central Europe where the biosphere of floodplains remains intact.

The Danube Auen Park is home to many species of animals, and even several endangered bird species, 13 species of amphibians and 8 species of reptiles. The variety of flora is also very large, there are more than 800 species of plants, including rare types of orchids. Another interesting feature of the park is that the Danube Cycling Route passes through it, which begins in the German city of Passau and passes through the territory of Hungary.
