Schlosspark

Jä gerhausgasse 33, 1120 Wien, Austria

Description:

Behind the magnificent Schönnbruen Palace right on the slope of a green hill, there is a wide park. We are talking about Schlosspark, which is located in the capital of Austria – Vienna. It was built in 1705-1706 by Jean Trechet.

The park, made in a formal French style, once served as hunting grounds. Between 1753 and 1775, during the time of Maria Theresa, some parts of the park were restored. As a result, Ferdinand von Hohenberg gave Schlosspark elements of Baroque style.

The center of the park remained unchanged. It is decorated with symmetrical flower beds around which statues tower. They lead to the fountain of Neptune. The flower beds surround the gardens in the same formal style. They resemble a star, inside which there are two fountains (Neptune and Nayad). Behind Neptune stretches a zigzag path. On it you can walk to the arcade Gloriette, resembling a forest grove.

In the park you can see buildings, monuments and other architectural objects, for example, an obelisk and Roman ruins.

Since 1779, everyone has been able to visit the Austrian landmark without a fee, so at any time of the year, Schlosspark is full of tourists.
