Monument to Maria Theresa

Museumsplatz, 2, Plaza Maria Theresa,

Description:

The majestic sculptural composition for the equally majestic Queen of Hungary and the Archduchess of Austria in the center of Vienna is a breakaway point for most tourists.

Having embarked on the difficult path of enlightenment, Maria Theresa achieved not small successes in this path - the symbol of this part of her personality was a scroll in her left hand, which is located next to the symbol of power - the scepter. Speaking of symbols, one cannot but mention the tiara on the head of the ruler, which was a sign of the unity of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation.

The entourage of Mary was not left without respect: talented generals, wise statesmen and people of art stand at the base of the monument, serving as a support for the queen.

This monument was the most expensive monument of its time: 800,000 guilders were spent on the construction of a giant 20-meter composition, covering an area of 630 square meters, on top of which sits proudly one of the most significant figures in the history of Austria.
