In der Burg Square
Description:
In der Burg Square is a favorite place of all tourists, translated as "in the fortress". And it's no accident. The ancient architecture of buildings of the XIII century, the remains of the lifting mechanism create a unique historical flavor. Part of the buildings on the In der Burg Square were built in the XVI century. But a special exquisite style still creates a pressure of baroque.
In the center of the square is a monument to Emperor Franz I, created by the famous sculptor Pompeo Marchesi. A memorial sign in his honor was put in the era of Biedermeier, in the 1840s.
This place is quite popular not only among guests of the country, but also among the residents themselves. Military parades and public courts are often held here. In addition, performances of the famous Vienna Boys Choir are held near the Swiss Gate.
Despite the fact that now there is no fortress on this square, tourists have something to see. Visitors will find themselves in the atmosphere of ancient Austrian culture.
