Town Hall Square
Austria, Vienna, Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz, Wiener Rathaus
Description:
Even if you spend a few hours in Vienna, you have a great chance to feel the spirit of this amazing city. You just need to find yourself in the town hall square, called Friedrich Schmidt Square.
This square is the real heart of the city. One of the largest winter fairs in Austria is held here. Guests of the capital and the crown come to skate: the authorities arrange a skating rink on the square with festive illuminations, a DJ and cheerful music.
And, of course, the town hall square would not have been so named if it was not the Viennese Town Hall. It is at its walls that the spirit of Vienna is particularly felt. Elegant balconies, openwork finishes, windows, sockets, spires on the turrets - all this is under the watchful eye of the guardian knight, whose sculpture crowns the highest tower.
