Nashmarkt Market

Wiener Straß e 8-10, 1060 Wien, Austria

Description:

Naschmarkt Market, located near the historical center of the Austrian capital - the city of Vienna, has been operating here since the XVIII century. At that time, farmers sold mostly dairy products. In 1793, the vegetable market from Freung Square was moved here. Now the territory of the Naschmarkt market occupies a place between the two banks of the Vienna River.

On the market you can buy food, clothes in several pavilions, drink a cup of coffee in a cafe. On Saturdays there is a flea market, where they sell works of art and handmade souvenirs. Perhaps the name of the market comes from the German naschen - to enjoy sweets, since exotic fruits have been sold here since ancient times. Right below where the market operates is the city metro line.
