Amalia Castle or Amalienburg

Hofburg, Michaelerkuppel, 1010 Wien

Description:

Castle Amalia or Amalienburg was the place of permanent residence not only Empress Elizabeth, but also here revered Tsar Alexander. These royal chambers are now accessible to all visitors.

It is worth noting that earlier this palace had another name - Rudolfsburg, Maximilian II so named it in honor of his son, however, with the arrival of the new mistress Empress Wilhelmina Amalia, the palace was renamed in her honor.

Unforeseen circumstances also contributed to their corrections, the resulting fire partially destroyed the original appearance of the palace. Nevertheless, most of it has been restored and now everyone will be able to see not only the royal apartments made in the Baroque style, but also the national library, which admires both its unique printed collections and the 30-meter dome with frescoes.
