Heiligenstadt - Beethoven House Museum
1190 Vienna Probusgasse, 6, Vienna, Austria
About the company:
Heiligenstadt is the apartment of Ludwig van Beethoven, where he spent the summer of 1802. This is a suburb of Vienna, where the famous composer came to rest and treatment associated with his deafness. Being in a severe depression, Beethoven increasingly indulges in gloomy thoughts, thinking about suicide. At this time he wrote a letter to his brother, the famous Covenant of Heiligenstä dter, to which he had never written before. The main part of the world-famous Second Symphony was written here.
The Beethoven Apartment Heiligenstadt is located at 19, 6 Probusgasse and has two rooms. The first one is aware of the destructive events in the life of the composer, it is here, among other exhibits, that the “Testament of Heiligenstadt” is located. The second room tells the story of Beethoven's last months and his death at Schwarzspanierhaus, an estate that has been demolished. In the rooms of the museum, all objects are preserved in the same order as during Beethoven’s lifetime.
