Museum of Abortion and Contraception

Mariahilfer Gurtel 37 First Floor, Vienna, Austria

About the company:

The Museum of Abortion and Contraception was founded by Suzanne Krayshay and Brigitte Attle. Interestingly, many residents of Austria took part in the formation of the museum fund - enterprising ladies openly appealed to the population and urged to "donate" old condoms and any contraceptives to the museum.

Today, tourists can see in the museum many exhibits, ranging from the most ancient condoms, which were made from the guts of different animals, uterine rings-pessaries and ending with recipes of infusions from herbs, which women have long resorted to perform abortions without surgery. Of course, in the museum there are also modern means of contraception - a variety of rubber devices, tablets, creams, ointments, tampons, gels ... you can not list everything!

The museum also exhibits wartime gynecological equipment, posters from medical offices, and various documentation. The museum collection is regularly updated.
