Museum of clocks
About the company:
The Clock Museum in Vienna is also known as the Time Museum. Here tourists experience extraordinary sensations. Here you understand how the speed of time changes, once it is smooth running, and once it is fast running, and how quickly and easily this changes. There are thousands of different clocks in the museum’s collection, occupying three floors. There are devices of the XV century, which still work perfectly, and chimes, and musical clocks.
Rich citizens, for example, could afford luxuriously decorated dresser watches, pocket watches and exquisite jewelry – pendants. Among the exhibits is an astronomical clock of the 18th century, which informs not only about the time of day, but also about the location of the planets at a given hour. Tourists will be interested in seeing a clock-lantern, a thimble clock.
The Clock Museum was established in Vienna in 1917. The first director of the museum was an enthusiastic school teacher and collector of the collection Rudolf Kaftan.
