Natural History Museum in Vienna
Burgring 7 (entrance from Maria Theresa Square), 1010 Vienna, Austria
About the company:
The Natural History Museum in Vienna was opened in 1889 in a purpose-built building on Maria Theresa Square. At the same time, the Museum of Art History was opened in front of him. The exhibits of the museum were items from the personal collection of the Habsburgs, which in 1750 began to collect Franz I Stefan, the husband of Maria Theresa. Since the opening of the museum, its collection is constantly growing. Today it is one of the most important museums in the world and one of the largest in Austria. On an area of 87,000 square meters there are more than 3 million different exhibits brought from different parts of the world.
The first floor of the museum presents a collection displaying the species diversity of the animal world of the Earth: from the simplest - to insects, from insects - to mammals and humans. Among the stuffed animals there are those that are nowhere else. Like the extinct Steller cow. There's a Diplodocus skeleton here. On the second floor there is a collection of precious stones, minerals, minerals, meteorite fragments. Among the exhibits is the famous miniature statuette Venus of Willendorf, found during excavations in the Wachau Valley.
The museum is open from Thursday to Monday from 9.00 to 18.30, on Wednesday - until 21.00. Tuesday is a day off. The museum is not open on December 25. It is worth paying attention to the fact that in the museum almost all the signs to the exhibits are in German.
