Lipizzian Museum

Reitschulgasse 2, Vienna, Austria, Stahlburg Palace

About the company:

The Lipizzian Museum, located in the Stahlburg Palace, is dedicated to horses, and it is representatives of a rare and very beautiful Lipizzian breed. Visiting the museum, tourists will be able to learn both the history of the breed and get information about the Imperial Riding School of Spain, from where these magnificent animals were taken to Vienna.

So, the breeding of horses, famous all over the world for their grace, began in Spain, then these white-maned horses were taken to Slovenia. Today they live in the Austrian province of Styria.

The exposition of the museum contains a huge number of engravings, various paintings, sketches, photographs. Also here you can see the uniforms of riders, elements of horse harness, both ancient and modern. Film presentations are also held at the museum.

The museum is open every day, but on Sundays you can see theatrical performances, because not without reason Lipizzians are also called dancing horses.
