Old Vienna Schnapps Museum
Wilhelmstrae 19, Vienna, Austria
About the company:
Visiting Austria, every self-respecting tourist is simply obliged to try three things: hot schnitzel, appetizing strudel and intoxicating schnapps. For tasting schnapps, the ancient Schnapps Museum belonging to the Fisher family is perfect.
The Fischer family for many years, even its first generations, since 1875 are engaged in the manufacture of schnapps, cognac and liqueurs. On the basis of this building, which is still in operation, a museum was organized. The museum has preserved all the office equipment, an old cash register, typewriters, appropriate photos and, even the village phone is important located by the window. The corridors leading down are decorated with photos of celebrities who visited here: Hugh Grant and Marilyn Manson.
Delight is caused by the “room of compositions”. Here are concentrated all the ingredients used: nuts, roots, decanters with various herbal infusions.
But no less interesting is the room where schnapps is made. Here, all distillations are displayed on the display, a 2-ton boiler is impressive.
The tour ends with a tasting of schnapps and other types of drinks produced here. In the museum you can buy the famous Golden liqueur “Schnapsmuseum”, inside the bottle, which is painted with golden spots and no less beloved Austrians Absinthe cocktail “Mystiq”. For lovers of something sweeter there is chocolate, banana liqueur, rum from coconut.
