Vienna

Franz Joseph Station

Description:

Franz Josef Station in Vienna is the most beautiful and interesting of the five railway stations of the capital, the final point of the Franz Josef railway.

It is named after Emperor Franz Joseph of the Austrian Empire. Operating since the end of the XIX century, the modern building of the station was built in 1978.

Located on the outskirts of the city in the area of Alsergrund. The only train station in Vienna with no metro station near it. The nearest metro station Friedensbrücke is located 300 meters from the station.

The main function of the station is to service commuter trains, but several times a day there are regional trains to Gmund and Ceske-Velenice.

The main influx of visitors falls on the weekend, which is due to the supermarket located in the station building, which does not close, unlike most shops, on Sundays and evenings on Saturdays.
