Brussels Town Hall

Grand Place, Bruxelles, Belgium

Description:

Brussels Town Hall is located on the Grand Place square, in the historic center of the city. This building was built in the 15th century in the style of Brabant Gothic. At the top of the tower, whose height is 96 meters, there is a statue 5 meters high with the archangel Michael defeating the devil. The town hall survived wars and fires, and in 1998, together with the entire Grand Place ensemble, it was recognized as a UNESCO site.

The town hall building still houses the mayor’s residence, although the city administration is located on Anspash Boulevard. The Brussels City Hall is open to visitors. Its halls are richly decorated with gilded mirrors and ancient tapestries.
