Our Lady's Church
Parvis Notre-Dame, 1020 Bruxelles
Description:
Our Lady Church is a Roman Catholic cathedral built by King Leopold in memory of his wife, Louise-Marie of Orleans. Since her burial in the cathedral, it has served as a necropolis for all members of the Belgian royal family.
The majestic Gothic cathedral, built in memory of the Belgian Queen, was consecrated in 1872 and became her mausoleum. In addition to Louise Maria, there are also tombs of King Leopold II, two Belgian princes and other members of the royal family.
The church is a monumental structure with rich exterior decor and high spires. The interior of the cathedral is no less richly decorated with columns, vaults and stone carvings. It is worth noting the statue of the Virgin Mary of the XIII century, which survived from the old church, which was on this site earlier.
