Van Buren Museum and Garden
The David and Alice van Buuren Museum, Avenue Leo Errera 41, 1180 Uccle, Brussels, Belgium
Description:
The Van Buren Museum and Garden is a classic, reserved and concise form. Its owner is David Van Buren, an independent financier who has implemented his creative plans on a 12-acre piece of land in Ukkle, Belgium.
On the territory, a house in the style of the Amsterdam School of Architecture was built from red brick. with cornices, pediment and asymmetrical facade. The interior is thought out to the smallest detail - furniture on an individual order in a single copy was made in the workshop "Domain and Geneva" on the sketches of David van Buuren himself.
It is worth noting that David Van Buren was also a collector of paintings. In his collection there are unique works, including the painting “The Fall of Icarus” painted on an oak board in oil.
The garden and rose garden perfectly complement the architecture of the house. Art Deco landscape design is used here - strict geometric figures, ethnic motifs and a bright color scheme. In 1968, on an area of 1000 square meters, designer René Pesche created a labyrinth of plants. In memory of the owner of the garden, his wife Alice created a hidden garden of twelve small boxwoods, cut in the form of hearts. This corner allows lovers to remember the time spent together and dream about the future.
