Petit Sablon Garden
Place du Petit Sablon 14, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
Description:
Petit Sablon is a small but at the same time very beautiful park located on the square of the same name in Brussels, Belgium. Its layout is symmetrical and thought out to the smallest detail - the entrance to the garden is decorated with magnificent fountains, patterned flowerbeds are located in the center, and beautiful statues are located along the edges, each of which carries a semantic load. The nine provinces of Belgium are represented here by amazing floral symbols. Earlier on the site of the park there was a cemetery, which at the end of the IX century was moved to the western part of Brussels.
The park features 48 figures representing the city’s craft guilds and 10 statues depicting prominent Belgian personalities. Around the perimeter of the park is surrounded by a magnificent fence with figurines of shop workers, each of whom holds his own tool in his hand. Inside the garden are statues of prominent figures of Belgium, among them you will find not only politicians, but also architects, philosophers, artists and scientists. The highlight of the garden is the sculptures depicting Counts Philip Horn and Lamoral Egmont going to be executed, which were made by the best Belgian masters.
