Exhibition Pavilion in Jubilee Park

Jubilee Park, Brussels, Belgium

Description:

On the border of the European quarter of Brussels and the commune of Etterbeck is located Jubilee Park or the Park of the Fiftieth anniversary. This is the most popular holiday destination for Belgians in the summer. It has an area of 30 hectares. The park was established in 1880 on behalf of King Leopold II of Belgium, it is dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of Belgian independence.

The most notable building of the park is the Arc de Triomphe. There are exhibition pavilions along this arch. In 1910, for the next world exhibition, two pavilions were built in the park, connected by semicircular colonnades. And in 1946, a fire destroyed the southern part of the pavilions, and later it was rebuilt, but in a more restrained style, slightly disturbing the overall harmony of the ensemble.

Now museums are open in the exhibition pavilion of the Jubilee Park. The north wing is occupied by the Army Museum, the northeast wing by the Aviation Museum, the southeast wing by the Automobile Museum, and the south wing by the Royal Museum of Art and History.
