Rue Royale Street, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
Description:
The city of Brussels is the cultural and political center not only of Belgium, but of the entire European community. One of the most popular highways here is the Rue Royal. This street is known for its cultural institutions and parade ensembles. Particularly noteworthy is the artistically decorated column, a monument erected in memory of the National Congress of 1831. The column rises to a height of 49 meters, it is crowned with a bronze statue of Leopold I. In front of the column, a fire burns on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, created in honor of the Belgian heroes who died in 1914-1918.
Rue-Royal is famous for the first store of the legendary chocolate lady Madame Marie Delou, who in 1919 founded her chocolate empire and turned candy into a luxury item. The store, decorated in the Rococo style, very soon became a street decoration and a very popular institution.
