Laughter Day (Fool's Day)

Description:

Laughter parade
Laughter Day is celebrated in Bulgaria. Not that there are jokes on every corner, but the love of jokes is present, especially on the day of the first of April, when everyone tries to outsmart a neighbor, colleague, relatives.

Children are especially happy with the holiday. There are times when even the media get involved in this fun game and give all sorts of stunning news.

And “got a joke” in Bulgaria from the city of Gabrovo. Gabrovtsy with their unsurpassed sense of humor became a parable in Bulgaria. On April 1, 1972, a real House of Humor and Satire appeared in Gabrovo. There are always exhibitions of cartoons, all sorts of humors and always a lot of guests.

One Gabrian joke asks: “Why was the founder of the city, Racho Kuznets, built a monument in the river?” And the answer follows: “Because no one wanted to settle down and give their place to build a monument.”

Yes, the Gabrovskys are terrible misers, but at the same time they make fun of themselves. They look a bit like the Scots.

And on April 1, 1976, the Ukrainian astronomer from the Crimean Astrophysical Laboratory, Nikolai Chernykh, even named the new planet Gabrovo he discovered in honor of Gabrovsky jokes he loved so much.
