Apollonia Art Festivals
Description:
The beginning was laid in 1984 on the initiative of Professor Dimo Dimov and his Academy of Arts "Apollonia". Sozopol is one of the most beautiful Bulgarian cities with rich cultural traditions. In 1991, the Apollonia Art Foundation was established, which continued the work of the Academy of Arts. These organizations have been implementing a successful cultural policy in Bulgaria for 20 years: they organize two of the most prestigious festivals in the country - the Spring Music Festival in Sofia and the Art Festival in Sozopol. Apollonia is a non-governmental organization supported by sponsors.
During the festival, all halls, stages and open areas of the city are provided for cultural events. Every evening on the stage of the theater there is a performance, ballet or open-air concert. The art gallery in the Old Town hosts exhibitions, and among the paintings outstanding classical music performers hold their workshop classes. During the holidays, there is always a place for children’s creativity. In the cultural house "Paisius of Hilendar" and in the Archaeological Museum are poetic recitals and promotions of new books. The events of the festival are reflected in the Bulgarian media.
In 2006, the festival was attended by 7 theater groups from Bulgaria, classical music performers from Russia, USA, Poland and England, jazz formations from Russia, France, Serbia, Switzerland, Macedonia and Poland. As part of the festival, the Panorama of Bulgarian cinema was held, as well as Children's Apollonia with performances specially designed for children. This year marks 110 years since the opening of the National Art Academy - Sofia, and on this occasion an exhibition of its graduates was held in the halls of the Art Gallery. His workshop is organized by Bulgarian violin virtuoso Mincho Minchev.
