Strandja Mountains

The mountain range is located in the southeast of Bulgaria, south of the city of Burgas

Description:

Strandja is a mountain range located in Turkey and Bulgaria. The highest point of the Bulgarian part is Mount Goliamo with a height of 710 m. the Massif does not have sharp peaks, but is represented by gentle slopes, completely covered with greenery, and wide valleys. In legend, these mountains are called “the smile of God” because of the beauty and cheerfulness of the landscapes.

Strandzha mountains are also remarkable for their peculiar climate - mild, with a lot of precipitation in winter and very little in summer. The massif is divided into two large ridges: Ryazovsky and Bosnian. The latter serves as the northern boundary of Strandja National Park. Due to the status of the park, the nature of this corner is preserved almost in its original form. Almost 50% of all Bulgarian flora grows here, including its main pride – dense oak forests.

All this determines the development of rural eco-tourism in this area with centers in the village of Bryshlyan and the village of Bylgari.
