Slaveyk Square
pietko R. Slaveikov 3-4, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
Description:
Slaveyk Square is one of the most popular places in the capital of Bulgaria. It is named after the Bulgarian writers Petko and Pencho Slaveikov - father and son, in honor of whom a sculpture was created on the square, which is one of its main attractions.
The first mention of the square appeared in 1515. Only a coffee shop, two police stations and a mosque were located there. And in the 1920s, the square acquired its modern appearance, the buildings of the Ministry of Public Works, the French Institute and many other historical buildings were built here.
Currently, it is the tourist center of the city, where many booksellers are located right on the street with counters, where you can find almost any book. This is a place where you can safely walk, enjoying the surrounding view of historical buildings, and take a picture next to the sculptures of famous writers of Slaveiks sitting on a bench.
