National Museum "Earth and People"

Cherni vruh Blvd 4, 1421 Sofia, Bulgaria

About the company:

National Museum "Earth and People" presents its visitors an exciting journey into the world of minerals. About 40% of all known minerals on planet Earth are stored here, making it one of the largest mineralogical museums in the world.

The exposition tells about the role of minerals in the environment, presents them as a source of raw materials and energy or as a subject of scientific knowledge and aesthetic impact.

The building, which houses the national museum, was built in the 1890s and was originally part of the Armory Town. The premises were used for reserves of the Bulgarian army, then for the local gendarmerie. In the late 1980s, the building acquired a new life – it housed the Museum “Earth and People”.
