Lepenica Cave

Description:
Lepenitsa Cave is considered the pride of the Rhodope Mountains. It is located in their western part, right under the top of Mount Syutkya.
This cave is very long (about 1500 meters) and quite high. The cave itself can be divided into 3 floors. On the lower floor, an underground river flows, on the second during heavy rains, water accumulates, forming 4 lakes. The third floor is completely dry, but unfortunately inaccessible. Like many caves of this kind, the Lepenica cave is amazingly decorated with nature: here you can see stalagmites, stalactites, stalactones of all forms and compositions. In addition, the cave has a truly unique wealth - in the literal sense of the word: here they found a magnificent cave pearls.
There are many different living creatures - about 24 species. For example, 6 different species of bats were found here.
A visit to the cave has only been possible for some 50 years. It is relatively cool here - only 10 degrees of heat. Therefore, tourists are advised to stock up on warm clothes, as well as special equipment, which gives out a guide before entering (you can not enter without all this).
