Serra State Park do Mar
a 40km do centro pela BR 101, Ubatuba, Brazil
Description:
Serra do Mar State Park is a reserve park stretching from Rio de Janeiro to Itariri on the southern edge of São Paulo State. There is a huge mass of continuous Brazilian Atlantic forest.
Massive subtropical and tropical forests grow here, which are occasionally interrupted by the savanna. A similar ecological situation was typical for the South American continent, but aggressive agriculture and industrialization have almost destroyed the natural identity of the region.
The park is home to unique amphibians, preserved only on the southern coast of the Atlantic. The Serra do Mar Reserve is a popular destination among eco-tourists. Special routes have been laid along it, along which you can safely move through the jungle, stretching over 315,000 hectares. Due to its enormous size, the park is divided into 8 zones representing various climatic and geographical features of the Atlantic Forest.
Most of the park is accessible only by appointment, making Serra do Mar a truly protected corner of Brazil.
