Independence Park in Sao Paulo

Av. Nazar, 105-215 - Ipiranga, Sã o Paulo, 04263-000, Brazil

Description:

Independence Park is located in the Ipiranga area (translated as “red river”), in the southeastern part of Sao Paulo. It was here, on the banks of the river, that King Pedro I proclaimed Brazil’s independence from Portugal.

This served as the formation of the park and its name in honor of the king. Independence Park is famous for the Ipiranga Museum or the Museum of Brazilian History (Museu do Ipiranga), which is currently one of the best museums in São Paulo.

The remains of King Pedro I of Brazil were buried there. The building, similar to a palace and created in the Renaissance style, attracts the attention of both locals and tourists, making the park a popular attraction in the city.
