Description:
The House of the Rose is a building located on Paulista Avenue and designed by architect Francisco de Paula Ramos de Acevedo.
The two-storey mansion got its name from the presence of the largest and most beautiful rose garden in the city. Initially, the architect’s daughter lived in the mansion, and then in 1986 the mansion became the property of the government of São Paulo.
Since 2004, the mansion has been the host house for the storage of works by the poet Harold de Campos and is managed by teacher Frederico Barbos. The house houses a complete collection of the poet’s books and some personal belongings. Visiting literary exhibitions and training courses are also held on the territory of the house.
It also houses the country’s first poetry library and the official São Paulo State Bookstore.
