North of Thimphu, Thimphu, Bhutan

Description:

One of the main natural attractions of Thimphu is the Jigme Dorji National Park, which is the largest protected area in the country. The park is named after Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the third king of Bhutan, who died in 1972. The park was founded in the middle of 1974 and is located at altitudes of 1400 - 7000 meters, which allows it to be simultaneously in three climatic zones. The Jigme Dorjee Park is home to approximately 6,500 people who are mainly engaged in agriculture.

There are rare animals, such as the Himalayan bear and irbis. The park has a center of geothermal activity, which is the largest in Bhutan, as well as many historical monuments. Fans of active pastime will be able to choose one of the hiking routes, after which you can admire the local delightful landscapes, watch the life of exotic animals in natural conditions and take wonderful photos.
