Bhutan Textile Museum
About the company:
One of the main attractions of Thimphu is the Bhutan Textile Museum, located near the Bhutanese National Library. Since its inception in 2001, it has amassed a vast collection of antiques made from world-renowned Bhutanese textiles, which is renowned for its intricate intricate patterns, role in state, social and religious events, and unique production methods.
The Bhutan Textile Museum was inaugurated by Queen Sangay Choden Wangchuk, who is its curator. $ 165,000 was allocated for the development of the infrastructure of the institution. Private investors and the government of Bhutan are providing material assistance to the museum, and the American Peabody Essex Museum is providing technical support to the institution.
The museum is divided into six zones that display numerous achievements in textile art, as well as the role of textiles in religion. Here you can see textiles made of local fibers, as well as a unique royal collection containing a huge number of priceless antiques. The main exhibits are the royal crown, clothing and accessories of the kings of Bhutan, a robe of Tsamdrak Goenpa embroidered with pearls and various bedding.
