Minorite monastery
Description:
The Minorite monastery is now called the Knights of the Red Cross Monastery. It was founded in the middle of the XIV century by Peter I von Rosenberg and his wife Catherine. Here they also built a women's monastery. The buildings of the monastery were damaged during the Hussite wars and rebuilt in the Baroque style in the XV century.
In the center of the complex there is a church with Gothic elements: ribbed vault, high windows. The walls have Renaissance paintings of the second half of the XVI century. The monastery was active until the Second World War, and then began to fulfill secular goals. Only in 1950, religious life returned to its walls – it was acquired by the Order of the Red Cross.
