Bamberg - UNESCO City

Description:

There are few corners on earth where you can feel the charm of history with such intensity as in Bamberg! The city has been the seat of the Bamberg Archbishopric since 1002, founded by Henry II. The Dome Cathedral, consecrated in 1237, is considered one of the most beautiful monuments of medieval architecture in Germany. In the city is the tomb of Pope Clement II.

The old town of Bamberg has been preserved in its original form: narrow streets between houses, paving stones, lush Baroque temples, small stone bridges connecting different parts of the city and three-storey houses of local residents.

Most of the houses of local residents are built in the traditional German style of half-worked architecture.

In Bamberg you will see the only town hall built in the middle of the river. Interestingly, the landmark was built on an artificial island (and the case took place in 1386) and on both sides it is surrounded by bridges.

Bamberg is Venice Minor on the Regnitz River with tributaries.

Here is one of the oldest rosaries in Europe, where all kinds of roses are presented. E.T.A. Hoffman served in the local theater. And Bamberg smoked beer is the hallmark of the city.
