What to see in Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary is a famous Czech resort on the Tepla River with long balneological traditions and a unique atmosphere of solemn provincial elegance. The city attracts guests not only with its healing springs, but also with its rich history, architecture of the XIX century and the atmosphere of leisurely walks along the embankment, where the noise of water and the slight aroma of therapeutic hazes are heard.

Manufactures and facilities

Man-made sights of the city amaze with diversity: The garden colonnade and other architectural pavilions of the embankments, the famous glass workshops of Moser and the Becherovka factory, where world-famous products and drinks are made. In the center there are preserved temples and monuments - an Orthodox church in the name of the Apostles Peter and Paul, the Catholic church of St. Mary Magdalena, numerous statues and monuments to Peter I, Tomas Masaryk, Beethoven and the goddess Hygea. On the city hill stands the Diana Tower with an observation deck, and the Theatre Square and old fortress towers add to the city’s historical charm. In the vicinity there are medieval castles Loket, Bechov and the castle Klashterets nad Ogří, each of which keeps its own legends and exhibits.

Natural attractions and places

The natural places around Karlovy Vary are no less impressive: the Tepla River, which gives the city the warmth of its name, carefully skirts the embankments and springs; Lake Laka – a glacial lake at the foot of the hills – and the picturesque forests of Krušné hory create excellent conditions for walks and picnics. The rock of Deer Skok, hills with hiking trails and green parks inside the city invite leisurely walks, and the geyser street of Vrzhidelni reminds of the resort traditions and healing waters that made the city famous in Europe.

On our site you can see all these attractions on an interactive map, quickly find short descriptions and photos, mark your favorite places and pave the optimal route.
