Imperial Nuremberg

Description:

Nuremberg is the second largest city in Bavaria. Treasure of the German Empire with 1000 years of history. Preserved from the XI century Kaiserburg fortress, was the residence of 32 German kings and emperors.

It was founded under the Holy Roman Emperor of the German Nation Heinrich In (1039-1056), who ordered the laying of a castle to protect the border area, the crossing point of important trade routes, from the Saxons, Bavarians, Franks and Czechs. The city was first mentioned in writing in 1051, the document says that the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of the German nation, Henry III, laid an imperial castle in the city. In the twelfth century, Emperors Conrad III and Frederick I (Barbarossa) expanded the castle and made it one of the temporary imperial residences. In 1219, Nuremberg became the Free Imperial City. Location on trade routes contributed to the development of crafts and trade.

At the time, the name was quite different. And it was called Norenberk. The city where Albrecht Durer, Faith Stoss, Hans Sachs and other great masters of the Northern Renaissance lived and worked. In Nuremberg, the first railway in Germany, the first canal, was built, the pocket watch was invented. The most important and popular place in the city is the Christmas market. We advise you to try the famous Nuremberg sausages and buy gingerbread in a music box as a gift.

Visit the Nuremberg Trial Museum and Hall 600.

“The Last Fight with the Reich” was the name of one of the Russian documentaries dedicated to the Nuremberg Trials. Hitler’s Germany was defeated on the battlefields, German cities lay in ruins. But in the emerging information age, it is not enough to simply defeat the enemy’s army, capture or destroy its leaders, occupy its territory. It is necessary to show the whole world that the victory won was not merely the triumph of one power over another, but the defeat of an ideology hostile to all mankind.
