Labor Day (Labor Day)

Description:

Minister of Labour of Montenegro Miodrag Radunovic
May 1st Labor Day is historically associated with the great labor movement in America in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and May 1, 1888, when 40,000 Chicago workers demanded an 8-hour day.

In the republics of the former Yugoslavia, May Day was celebrated immediately after the Chicago demonstrations. First in Slovenia and Croatia - already in 1890, then in Serbia in 1893 Bosnia and Macedonia began to celebrate the holiday at the beginning of the XX century, and Montenegro - only in 1918. Today, the holiday is celebrated throughout the former Yugoslavia.

The Montenegrin feature of the Mayovka is the traditional presence of a large number of children.
