Description:

The city of Bar is a large enough city for Montenegro with a population of 38 thousand people, where the largest port of the country is located. Of particular interest is the old part of the city, the Old Bar, endowed with a resort area from the port.

In total there are about 240 buildings. But since the old city was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1878, many of the monuments appear in the form of ruins. One of the oldest monuments of the old city is the gate of the 10-11 centuries. Of interest are the ruins of the Cathedral of St. George of the 11th century. and two churches - St. Katarina and St. Veneranda. Also noteworthy are some monuments of the period of Ottoman rule, for example, the aqueduct of the 16th-17th centuries and the clock tower, the construction of which dates back to 1753. The mosque with the minaret of Omerbasic and the tomb of Dervish-Khachan (17th century) near the southwestern wall of Old Bar is well preserved. Near the mosque there are buildings to accommodate pilgrims and imams.
