Biogradska Gora (National Park)
Description:
We leave Budva, Becici, Rafailovichi (from your apartments)
We head to the Biogradskaya Gora National Park (in Montenegro), the oldest reserve in Montenegro.
This reserve is located in the central part of the Belasica mountain range, between the Lim and Tara rivers. Its area is more than 5,400 hectares. The highest point is the Black Head, which rises 2,139 meters.
In the park is one of the few preserved in Europe virgin forests. The age of some trees reaches thousands of years, height - 45 m, and width - 1.5 m in girth. Biogradskaya mountain is famous for the diversity of flora and fauna: there are more than 2000 species of plants and about 200 species of birds. In this reserve you can see chamois, deer, boar, foxes, squirrels and many other animals. It is so pleasant to be surrounded by pure nature, breathe dizzyingly fresh air, wander through juniper, spruce, beech, oak or linden forests and watch the flight of an eagle or hawk in the sky!
The real treasure of these places is Biogradskoye Lake - the largest and most famous of the glacial lakes of the national park. It is located in the thick of a forest at an altitude of 1,094 m above sea level. The lake is surrounded by footpaths with a total length of about 3 km. The transparency of its water is extraordinary: even at great depths you can see trout, which is very much here. In summer, the water temperature does not exceed 20 degrees. Here you can swim in wooden boats with oars, catch fish, set up tents.
It's worth seeing!
If desired, we can visit the Monastery of Moraca. The road runs parallel to the Moraca River Canyon.
From Budva drive about 2.5 hours. The total travel time is approximately 7-8 hours.
