Description:
The tour "Two Monasteries" will introduce you to the Orthodox shrines of Montenegro.
You will visit the famous Cetinsky Monastery, with its Christian relics and the high mountain monastery Ostrog, which houses the miraculous relics of St. Basil of Ostrog. You will have a unique opportunity to walk the old path of Montenegrin monks and receive the holy blessing of the spiritual monastery.
Cetin monastery. The monastery, more than once sheltered Montenegrins from the Turkish invaders, which was destroyed by enemies more than five times, but was always restored. In the chapel of the monastery, the right hand of John the Baptist is kept, a particle of the cross on which Christ and the relics of Peter Cetinsky (one of the great Lords of Montenegro) were crucified.
Ostrog Monastery. Great is the glory of the Orthodox monastery Ostrog, which was built in 1650 at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level by St. Basil of Ostrog, whose relics now rest inside the monastery. Ostrog Monastery is one of the shrines of Orthodox Montenegro.
Ostrog Monastery is an active Orthodox male monastery. It is one of the largest religious centers in Montenegro and a popular place of pilgrimage. The monastery was founded in 1650 by St. Basil of Ostrog (in the world Stoyan Jovanovich). The monastery is built in a sheer rock at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level and currently the relics of the saint rest in the monastery. Vasily Ostrogsky is one of the most revered saints in Montenegro and Serbia. This name is associated with numerous stories of miraculous healings from diseases. The monastery consists of two parts, lower and upper. It is in the upper part (Mountain Monastery) that the most important shrines of the monastery are located. The upper part of the complex consists of two churches. These are the Exaltation of the Cross (1665) and the Introduction to the Church of the Virgin Mary (18th century). In the reliquary of the Vvedensky temple, the ark with the miraculous relics of St. Basil is stored (to which you can attach if you wish).
If you are traveling with children, then on the way back from Ostrog we can visit the rope park in Podgorica, or near Cetinje. There are tracks for children of all ages and they really like it. This way, the children will not be bored with the tour.
