Fishing on Skadar Lake

Description:

Fishing in Montenegro is a special phenomenon, not so long ago it was the main occupation of the coastal population. Until now, the local grandfathers swim out early in the morning on their boats on the “pesanje”, the so-called fishing.

We leave Budva very early, at 5-6 am, the road to the village of River Crnojevic takes about an hour. There's a local fisherman Dragan waiting for us. He'll put us in a boat, take us to a feeding place, give us gear, bait, explain everything and show us.

Only a fisherman can understand the anticipation you feel when you look at a float on the water surface.

Professional fishermen can fish out of the lake, freshwater eel, and beginners will easily catch a stickle, carp or perch. More than 40 species of fish live in the lake, so the catch can be unique and unexpected, which makes fishing even more interesting. But the gear for catching them can be different.

As a rule, we catch carp from 200 grams to 2-3 kg for corn or bread. Fishing until 11-12 hours, then usually the peck stops and Dragan takes us back on the boat.

In the first half of summer, eels are actively caught.

Upon returning to the village, you can arrange a fish lunch in a restaurant with fish caught by us.
