Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God

Medovina, Cetinje, Montenegro

Description:

The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God was built on the ruins of the old Cetinsky monastery at the end of the fifteenth century. This temple was built by seaside builders. On three sides her building was surrounded by a colonnade that has not survived to this day.

After the church was completely destroyed in the eighteenth century during the war, it changed its appearance somewhat.

The church is now built of gray stone. In the altar wall of the temple is a relief with a double-headed eagle. It is the coat of arms of the first abbot of the monastery Ivan Chernoevich. On the second floor there are decorations in the form of carved capitals.

Above the entrance to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin there is an old plate. It is carved a text that tells about the foundation of the temple.

Now the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God belongs to the Cetinsky monastery. Its interior is currently being reconstructed.
