Church of St. Jerome
Description:
The Church of St. Jerome is a small beautiful church in the lower part of the Old Town.
The time of construction is approximately the XVI century. In the XIX century the church underwent a large-scale restoration.
The temple is built in the style of neoclassicism, painted white and decorated with stucco ornament.
According to some sources, earlier on this site stood a mosque, which was destroyed immediately after the victory over the Turkish conquerors.
On the altar of the church, St. Jerome, considered the main patron and protector of the city, is depicted next to the Virgin Mary.
