Grubonia Palace
Description:
Grubonia Palace is located near the northern city gate of Kotor near the Church of St. Ozana. It belonged to the noble family Grubonia and was built in the XV century.
Now the palace looks the same as at the end of the XVI century. Window frames and window sills on the second floor are located on beautiful brackets in the form of carved lion heads, characteristic decorations of the Renaissance. On the front facade, between the windows of the first floor, there is a stone tablet with a monogram of Christ, and under it a relief with a skull and bones, snakes crawling out of the sockets, and a mouse, a rat and a turtle crawling under the skull. It is believed to be the emblem of the old town pharmacy, first mentioned in 1326.
