Shrines of the Montenegrin land
Description:
Let’s plunge into the world of spirituality and history of Montenegro, where each stone keeps its legend.
Cetin Monastery: A century-old guardian of faith, he repeatedly sheltered Montenegrins from Turkish invaders. Enemies have destroyed it more than five times, but it has always been rebuilt like an ancient oak tree rooted in the depths of time. In the chapel of the monastery are kept the right hand of John the Baptist, a particle of the cross on which Christ was crucified, and the relics of Peter Cetinsky - one of the great rulers of Montenegro.
Ostrog Monastery: Rising at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level, it is like a bridge between the earthly and celestial. Here rest the miraculous relics of St. Basil of Ostrog, and every stone of this monastery is permeated with prayer and faith. Ostrog Monastery is a shrine that inspires the souls of pilgrims.
Daibabe Monastery: Outwardly, it is modest, like prayer, but inside is a whole underworld. The story of his appearance is like a fairy tale. The peasant had a dream in which the saint, buried in these places, asked to build at least a small church in honor of his teacher. St. Simeon realized that a disciple of St. Sava was addressing them, whose relics were hidden from the Turks. Supported by King Nicola, a monastery church was erected at the end of the 19th century, and paintings of St. Simeon can still be found on the walls of the caves.
Jdrebaonic Monastery: This monastery, like the crown of peaks, rises on the rocks, where the earthly merges with the heavenly. Its history is like an ancient legend passed down from generation to generation. Here, amidst the stone walls of prayer, you will find peace and inspiration. The relics of the saints hidden in this monastery bring comfort and hope to those who seek spiritual perfection.
Let every step in these shrines be your prayerful feat, and every stone a testimony of eternity.
