Djurdjevic Bridge
Description:
The bridge over the Tara River was the tallest road bridge in Europe until 2004. Its height above the river is 160 meters, and its length is 366 meters. The name of the bridge was given to the owner of the farm located next to the bridge.
The bridge was built by engineer Lazar Jaukovich in 1940, and during World War II, partisans forced the engineer to blow up his creation. He made it so that the bridge could be easily restored, for which he was shot by the Nazis. A monument to the engineer is installed at the entrance to the bridge.
Near the bridge you can settle in a campsite, visit a cafe, ride on mountain roads, jump from the bridge on a rubber band. Since the track is not busy, cyclists can also ride on the bridge. There are no excursion buses in the afternoon, so this is the perfect time to visit the bridge.
