Knutenborg Safari Park
Description:
Don't go, kids go to Africa!
Tigers, giraffes, camels, rhinos, bison, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes and many other exotic animals are waiting for you in our Safari Park!
Safari Park is located 120 km from Copenhagen and belongs to Count Christopher Knud.
The landscape park is known for magnificent landscapes, large open spaces, forests and lakes along with cozy meadows, streams and numerous attractions. Around a corner, a hill or a grove, you get a new experience when you travel through the park.
The entire landscape park is 660 hectares, of which Knutenborg Safari Park occupies more than 400 g. There are 10 historic buildings designed by two Danish architects. The park itself is surrounded by a wall, more than 7 km long and two ruins - artificial and authentic!
Since the creation of the park in 1860, a paid entrance has been opened for visitors. Those who wished could go on foot or come on horseback, in a carriage, by bicycle - and much later, by car. Since then, the park has evolved from a small local attraction to a national tourist attraction.
In the 1950s, a closed reserve for 70 spotted deer was created on the shore of Swan Lake. In 1969, Count Adam Knud accidentally got the opportunity to settle here exotic animals. It was a small herd of zebras, three ostriches and three Nilgau antelopes. Rumors of strange animals spread very quickly and the trip to the park was worth it! So came the source of inspiration and the idea of creating a Safari Park on the island of Lolland.
Today, Knutenborg Safari Park is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Denmark and receives up to 250,000 visitors a year.
