White desert

White Desert, El Giza, Egypt

Description:

The white desert in Egypt is a small, but worth a visit, part of the eastern direction of the Sahara Desert.

Many hundreds of thousands of years ago, when there was still a common continent, there was an ocean floor here, and the white earth rock is the remains of already dead marine inhabitants. Now, because of the winds and sands, this place does not look like the bottom of the ocean, and what is the strange name for the bottom of the ocean "Desert"? The earth rock here has a shade of delicate white color - a massive chalk rock was formed here.
One of the attractions of the desert is the Crystal Mountain. Here, pieces of minerals are scattered around, beautifully shimmering in the sun. Many tourists take with them pieces of minerals from there.

To get to this place, you need to take a bus from Asyut to Farafra Oasis, the White Desert is next to this place.
