Umm Gamar reef

Description:

If you move northeast of Hurghada, you can get to the island of Umm Gamar, near which there is an amazing coral reef. The huge plateau is fabulous and unique, then the wall goes down and forms a deep cliff, inside which there is a cave. The reef is densely populated by the most diverse and exotic representatives of flora and fauna - glass fish, tuna, giant barracudas, etc.

There is an interesting legend associated with this place. A young fisherman living in Hurghada sold fish for a pittance to the greedy rich Jafar. When he tried to find a new place to sell, Jafar killed the fisherman, and his wife and young son Gramar fled on a boat to escape the miser. Once on the island, they began a new life. After the death of her mother, the daughter of the sea king took her body to the bottom of the sea and built a crypt, putting an ingot of gold next to it for the young man. Jafar, learning of this, tried to steal the gold, but the angry sea king turned him into a grouper.

Divers can still see three pillars, the remains of a tomb, and a small fish swimming around them. And gold is considered cursed. You can get to the reef and admire its beauty from Hurghada to a safari bot or a daily bot.
