Mother's Day

Description:

This day is considered a holiday only for mothers and pregnant women.
Mother’s Day is an international holiday in honor of mothers. On this day, it is customary to congratulate mothers and pregnant women, in contrast to International Women's Day, when congratulations are accepted by all women.

The purpose of the holiday is to support the traditions of careful attitude to women, to consolidate family foundations, to emphasize the importance in our lives of the main person - the Mother.

This day has been celebrated throughout Estonia since July 3, 1923. Every year this holiday gained more and more popularity, until 1940.

Once again, the celebration of this pleasant holiday was resumed in 1988. Since 1992, the exact date was determined, which was included in the list of state significant dates and holidays - the second Sunday of May.

Estonians decorate their homes with flags. In kindergartens and schools there are mornings and concerts for mothers, children give their mothers homemade gifts.
